You were always on my mind...
Just listened to Data 80's "You were always on my mind..." Made me smile.
Things are clicking in my mind. I feel pretty solid. Last night I went out and bought some crap. I finally got a lamp for my bedroom. I've been using a sick joke of a light fixture - it's little more than a bulb screwed into a base sitting on the floor in the corner. I also picked up a wavy shelf thingy that caught my eye. It looks sharp in the corner behind the lamp. The top has a light it in and the shelves are glass.
I also picked up two down pillows because my pillows are utter crap. The new ones are pretty nice. I picked up a new set of red sheets that will match the curtains (I hope). I haven't had new sheets in a while. I put them through the wash last night so I'll get to try them out soon.
I'm thinking with the reds and blacks in my room, I need a few more earthy tones. I put a plant on top of the shelf, it looks good. I also tossed a green cloth under the items on top of the shelf. I want to cover the other window (currently has no curtains) with a bamboo blind. I remember seeing a whole pile of them at good will the other day.
I'll probably get a bed frame and a head board soon too. When I do, I can spin the bed around and put it under the lamp. The lamp I got has 5 curved arms that reach up and just almost touch the ceiling. There's a large base piece to keep it from falling over. I need to put something 'over' the base and the bed should work well. In fact, that's how they have the lamp on display at the store, they put either a couch or a bed in front of it and let it stretch up and over.
That leaves me with one wall in my room that's almost entirely bare. I'm thinking mirror... is that too suggestive? A mirror in front of the bed? Heh...
I'm kind of going for a slightly Asian look.. actually something more like this:
I'd like to find a humidifier that puts off steam. I'll probably want a couple of more plants. The walls bring in my white. The plants bring in my green. The curtains and sheets bring in my red. The bamboo will bring in an earthy tone. What to do with the big empty wall? Hmmm... what do I want to see when I first wake up in the morning... other than my girlfriend lying next to me?
